We recently had the very good fortune to have spent two wonderful weeks in Mola di Bari and thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks of classes at La Giara, scuola di italiano. Gianni Lepore, our teacher, was patient and caring and made certain that we understood what was being taught and why! We would highly recommend the small city of Mola di Bari as a good jumping off spot for the many “must-see” sites in Puglia (Lecce, Polignano al Mare, Bari, and Monopoli) and Matera in Basilicata. We would also highly recommend La Giara if your interest lies in learning the Italian language or improving your Italian language skills.

"With a great teacher you can learn everything!" I had a fantastic stay in Mola. Mola is just a very little town, with nearly no tourists, everybody knows everybody.The school is situated in the middle of everything. The teacher is so great, that I felt tears in my eyes during the lessons. Bari is not far away and easy to reach by train, also Monopoli and Polignano.I loved everything.

Ho studiato per 2 settimane da Gianni qui alla giara. Qui è molto buono luogo per studiare l’italiano e anche venire in vacanza. Non è posto turistico è locale,possiamo toccare di vera Italia. I have always wanted to improve my Italian but wanted to do it in a place where I was encouraged to speak the language and not cheat by using English with other English speakers. Studying at La Giara was a perfect opportunity to do this in the most beautiful of settings! The school itself is small which meant that the tuition was very supportive and specialised to meet my needs. I had a very limited vocabulary at the start of my stay but with the support of both Danja and Gianni it improved quickly. When I left I was able to confidently negotiate my way around the rest of Italy for four weeks. Mola itself is a beautiful town situated on the main trainline between Bari and Lecce. Because of this it was really easy to get around the area and with lessons only being until lunchtime it meant that I had plenty of time to explore Puglia. The town itself has a small beach and fabulous restaurants where they serve fish caught fresh each day. The people were all very friendly and keen to help me improve my Italian. Gianni organised an apartment for me to stay in whilst I was there and it was perfect! Right in the centre of the town and close to the daily market in the piazza. He was also very helpful at recommending restaurants, places to visit and helping me with my transfers. Both he and Danja were very warm and welcoming and I couldn't recommend this school any more! I spent two weeks studying Italian with Gianni. He's very patient and an excellent instructor. The combination of classroom exercises with opportunities to practice in real life settings was immensely valuable. I gained a lot of confidence in my ability to converse in Italian as Gianni accompanied me to local establishments and introduced me to several local citizens. The opportunity to learn about the local culture was just as important to me as it was to study the Italian language with a native speaker. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in a total "immersion" program.

La scuola La Giara est une petite école à taille humaine où l'on apprend l'italien avec Gianni, un professeur au grand coeur, d'une grande bienveillance et qui apporte tout son soutien pendant le séjour. Mais, c'est aussi un espace formidable de partages de nos cultures respectives où l'apprentissage de l'art de vivre à l'italienne est une invitation à penser comme les italiens, à favoriser l'échange .... Quoi de mieux quand on veut apprendre une langue ! Un grand grand merci pour tout ce que j'ai appris en si peu de temps. Au plaisir de se revoir !

Voor de tweede keer ben ik zeer aangenaam verrast door mijn verblijf in Mola di Bari. Rossella is een uitstekende lerares en Gianni een heel sympathieke directeur. De lessen eindigden steeds in de bar met een heerlijke koffie. In zijn vrije tijd heeft Gianni zijn wijngaarden getoond en lekkere druiven laten proeven. Graag wil ik zowel Gianni als Rossella hartelijk danken !

Mi experiencia en 'La Giara' fue increíble. Sólo tomé un mes intensivo de italiano con Gianni y llegué, en un solo mes, a nivel ¡intermedio! Su método es excelente, pero sobre todo, su conocimiento pedagógico y su docencia natural, sin olvidar que tiene una gran bagaje cultural y grandes historias que permiten conversar y avanzar así más rápido en la clase. ¡Gracias Gianni por el aprendizaje y por tu lindísimo trato!

Les heures de conversation organisée au café nous permettent de nous intégrer à la vie locale, et après deux séjours à Mola je sais que j'y retournerai avec beaucoup de plaisir. les habitants de Mola sont très acceuillants et j'y ai fait des rencontres fantatiques. Mola est l'endroit idéal pour allier études, loisirs et visite des Pouilles. Bien deservie par le train il est possible de visiter sans voiture Ostuni, Alberobello, Lecce, Polignano a Mare ecc...

"Ich bin von der Sprachschule La Giara begeistert und bereits zum dritten Mal da gewesen. Von der Vorbereitung über die Durchführung bis zur Betreuung vor Ort ist alles bestens organisiert. Auf Basis eines ausführlichen Einstufungstests passen die Lehrer den Unterricht individuell an und setzen entsprechend Schwerpunkte. Der Unterricht ist unterteilt in fundierte Theorie und praktische Konversation, die entspannt in einer Bar, auf dem Markt oder bei Ausflügen stattfindet. Gianni kümmert sich um alles, sei es der Flughafentransfer, die Unterkunft in einem hübschen Stadthaus oder Ausflüge zu den vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten Puglias. Auch Sonderwünsche wie z.B. ein Kochkurs werden von Gianni und seinem Team erfüllt. Ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Kurs!"

Ich besuchte 3 Wochen einen Intensivkurs an der kleinen Schule "La Giara" in Mola di Bari, Apulien. Die Lehrer sind nett, kompetent und geduldig. Zur Praxis geht es raus aus dem Klassenzimmer in die Bar und auf den Markt. Auch schriftlich kann ich in meinem Beruf jetzt besser mit meinen italienischen Klienten kommunizieren. Ich kann die Schule jedem empfehlen, der ein ursprüngliches Städtchen am Meer in Italien sucht, abseits der Touristenströme. Und ich komme wieder (ist schon gebucht)!

Sprachunterricht im Urlaub? Lernen anstatt auszuruhen, was schönes zu erleben oder Gelato zu essen? Ich war nicht sicher, ob das eine so gute Idee ist. Doch hielt ich es für nötig, mir zu Beginn meiner fünfwöchigen Italienreise ein sprachliches Basiswissen anzueignen. Zumindest wollte ich doch lebensnotwendige Fragen stellen können wie: Wo ist der Bahnhof? ? Kann ich bitte einen richtig heissen und nicht zu starken Kaffee bekommen? Zumindest die Durchsagen am Bahnhof oder die lebhaften Antworten der sehr hilfsbereiten Italiener ansatzweise verstehen. Soweit zur Motivation, in der Realität wich bereits nach dem ersten Tag Unterricht mit Gianni die Vernunft der Begeisterung für die italienische Sprache! Und tatsächlich merkte ich in den anschiessenden vier Wochen, WIE gut die Grundlagen waren, die er mit auf so angenehme Weise in den Rucksack gepackt hat. Gianni unterrichtet nicht nur mit grosser Kompetenz, Geduld und Einfühlungsvermögen (man kommt sich ja schon erst mal doof vor, wenn man noch nicht einmal ¨Danke, es geht mir gut!¨ antworten kann). Er ist auch sehr ausgeglichen, entspannt, interessiert, überaus hilfsbereit und einfach so sympathisch. Wohlfühlatmosphäre! Gianni hat mir die zunächst fremde Sprache in seiner so freundich wirkenden Sprachschule - in einem kleinen Ort direkt am Meer - nahegebracht - ganz leicht. Ich bin sehr dankbar und froh über diese schöne Erfahrung und mag Gianni herzlich gerne. Sprachschulen gibt es viele, doch diese wäre meine erste Wahl bei der Fortsetzung des Italienisch-Lernens. Zehn Punkte von zehn! Danke, Gianni, und ganz bestimmt: ¨Auf Wiedersehen¨
